Jason Beyette

Jason was born and raised in Dauphin, graduating from the DRCSS in 1993. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Brandon in 1996 and his Law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1999. Jason returned to Dauphin to join Johnston & Company in 1999 and became a partner in 2004. Jason is married to Lora and has one child, Joshua.

Jason is the Past President and current Director of the Dauphin Agricultural Society Inc. and Dauphin Consumer Co-op Ltd. and a former Board Member of the Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation. Jason is an active community member and has presented at numerous seminars in Dauphin and surrounding communities and was the recipient of the Dauphin and District Community Foundation’s 2023 Philanthropist of the Year. Jason and Lora also have a grain farming operation.

Jason manages Johnston and Company’s branch offices in Grandview and Gilbert Plains.

Preferred areas of practice are Real Estate, Wills and Estates, Corporate and Commercial transactions.


Clayton Swanton

Clayton was born and raised in Dauphin. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 2004 and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 2008.

After joining the firm as a summer student in 2007 and continuing as an Articling Student in 2008, Clayton was called to the Bar in 2009. He became a Partner in 2014 and focuses his practice on Real Estate and Corporate/Commercial law.

Deeply committed to community service, Clayton is a longstanding Rotarian and past president of the Dauphin Club. His leadership extends to past roles as a Board Member of the Countryfest Community Cinema during its construction and first operational year, as Vice-President of the Gilbert Plains Golf and Country Club, and co-chair of the 2024 Manitoba Summer Games. He currently serves as race director for the Epic East Gate Trail Run and as President of Northgate Trails Inc., having previously served as infrastructure chair during the creation of the Northgate Trails.

Outside of his professional and community commitments, Clayton is a committed husband and father to his daughter. Family time remains a priority in his busy schedule.

An avid athlete, Clayton pursues various physical activities with particular interest in triathlons, running, back-country skiing and anything else that gets him outdoors.

Clayton manages the Onanole office for the firm.


Lana Davidson

Lana was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Thomas University with Distinction in 2003. She then went on to complete her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of New Brunswick in 2007 and received her Call to the New Brunswick Bar in 2008. She went on to receive her Call to the Manitoba Bar later in 2008 after moving to Dauphin to join the firm as an Associate, becoming a Partner in 2023.

Lana is a past Board Member of the Dauphin and District Community Foundation and enjoys the outdoors and travelling.

Preferred areas of practice are Real Estate and Wills and Estates

Lana manages the Ste. Rose office on Thursdays.


Carter Van Alstyne

Carter was raised in Dauphin and relocated to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where he received a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor (JD) degrees. Carter has been with Johnston & Company since 2017 and became a partner in 2022.

Carter is married to Jenelle, who was born and raised in Dauphin, and they enjoy raising their family in the community. In his spare time, Carter is currently a Board Member with the Dauphin and District Community Foundation and The Creative Common.

Carter’s preferred areas of practice include Estates, Real Estate, and Corporate/Commercial Law.

Carter manages the Roblin office on Wednesdays.


Jo Paul Gatapia

Jo Paul completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in Journalism at the University of the Philippines in 1996 and his Bachelor of Laws degree at Arellano University in 2000. He practiced law in the Philippines for over 17 years before moving to Dauphin in 2018. He joined Johnston & Company in 2021 and he Articled with the Firm in 2022. He was called to Bar and became an Associate Lawyer of the Firm in 2023.

Jo Paul enjoys camping, playing guitar, watching movies, playing basketball and travelling with his wife Glenna.

Preferred areas of practice are Real Estate, Wills and Estates and Corporate law.
